My house has been taken hostage to a slew of toys the last couple of months. From stepping on Lego’s to crayons and cars taking up 90 % of my floor space, I decided that enough is enough.
James’s bedroom is unfortunately not big enough to create a play area in, and our “office” has become another storeroom that has been driving me insane.
I decided that enough is enough, and with the help of my very handy husband, we decided to convert the office into a playroom. An area where James can play and express himself and throw toys around to his little heart’s content. With winter also creeping in, my outdoorsy child needed a warm room where he could keep occupied during weekends and holidays.
James’s first birthday party was a forest theme, and I bought most of the items with the intention to use it in his room when I convert it from a baby to a toddler room. So instead I decided to work with the forest theme when we did the playroom.
The animal felt heads added a fun little element to the room and brought in a colourful element to a plain white wall.
We used Granny B chalk paint in bubble gum milkshake to paint the feature against the wall and white daisy to repaint the cupboards.
No playroom is completed without a My Tiny Teepee play tent, these gorgeous little teepee provides hours of imaginative play. I added a few scatter cushions from Studio collections for some comfort and the cutest little forest animal mobile from Hello Bubu Design.
A colourful beanbag for some reading time for mommy and James. And what would a playroom be without a chalkboard? We took a piece of wood, painted it with charcoal colour chalk paint and converted it into a little chalk table.
Minimal effort, maximum fun.
Other than the paint for the walls and cupboard, I didn’t have to buy a single item. Old items from previous birthday parties was repainted and the décor from his party was used to turn the room into a little forest theme sanctuary. It might not look Pinterest pretty, but I love how it come together and I know James will love it just as much.
