You really won’t believe me if I had to tell you how many times I have rewritten this blog!
I wanted to make sure it’s perfect and that the message came across as inspiring and motivating. You see the message that I so desperately want to tell all women is to take care of themselves. Mind, body & soul. Because we don’t do it enough. We put so much time and effort into looking after everyone and everything else that we always leave very little to ourselves. When we do take some time out, we end up with guilt because we feel we are taking away from our family.
When I started this blog, there was one goal. To create a platform and community for moms who want to lead a healthy lifestyle. A community for everyday women, where they can go to for advise, support and motivation.
When I say healthy, I don’t mean a certain dress size or number on the scale. To me healthy means self-love, and self-love means looking after yourself. Loving yourself.
“When I loved myself enough, I began leaving whatever wasn’t healthy. This meant people, jobs, my own beliefs and habits, food and lifestyle – anything that kept me small. My judgment called it disloyal. Now I see it as self-loving”
You cannot give if you are empty, and if you do not look after yourself you will end up empty.
I want to show women, that healthy comes in all shapes and sizes. That if you really commit and make it fit into YOUR daily routine, anything is possible. We all lead different daily lives and all have different commitments. So what might work for me might not necessarily work for you. A Healthy lifestyle doesn’t come in a one size fits all. In order to succeed you have to find what works for you!
What we all do however have in common, is that sometimes we just need a little bit of motivation and inspiration, and this is the reason I have started the #HealthyMomsZA community. I want this platform to be your biggest supporter. Your go-to guy when you get stuck in a rut, or just need some advice or motivation.
I want to try and help and inspire moms to look after themselves. Take time and focus on your wellbeing. Mind, body, and soul. You are entitled to and deserve to take time out for you. Your health is important for you and your family. They deserve to have a healthy and happy mom and wife.
I know that all your daily commitments may leave you with little to no time for yourself, but, if you go and reflect and really want to make it a part of your life you will find the time. Even if you start with 20 min a few days a week. Start off with small manageable changes and let it grow. One healthy meal a day, then a week until it becomes second nature.
I think one of the biggest reasons people fail at trying to change their lifestyles is because they try to change too much too fast. Start off slowly. Reflect on what your biggest concerns are and start there. We didn’t fall into eating badly and making poor health choices overnight, so we can’t expect to change it overnight. It’s a commitment and it’s gonna take time.
Over the next few weeks, I am going to share the stories of everyday real moms who choose to live a healthy lifestyle. Moms with jobs, moms with multiple children, moms with everyday challenges. These ladies have found what works for them, and hopefully, through them, you can find some motivation and see that it is possible. These moms inspire me every day, they keep it real. They also sometimes fail, but they choose to dust themselves off and try again.
